The original intention for my book was to leave a manuscript for my children and grandchildren. I wanted them to give them something more then memories and photographs to remember me by and pass on the lessons I have learnt to their own families.
I had also intended to write this under a ‘pen name’, but when working with the amazing Brenda Dempsey from Book Brilliance Publishing it became apparent that to do so would dilute some of the messages. I also came to realise that hiding behind a psuedonym was not being particularly courageous. I say that because whilst I am overwhelmingly proud of my achievements, there are certain aspects of my life that are entirely the opposite and I have to take responsibility for. Life is one big classroom and every day is a school day.
It has been a lengthy but rewarding journey, it has involved hard work, sleepless nights but has been very therapeutic. It has been said that we all have a book within us. I’d encourage anyone thinking about it to grasp the nettle and go for it.

Colin, you are so right my friend. Writing my Memoire was one of the most therapeutic and satisfying things I have ever done. It has made me belly laugh and cry, sometimes at the same time! It has allowed me to vividly remember things, places, people, and events that have shaped my life. I wrote around 70k words and it then sat for a couple of years, not because I lost interest, but because it made me realise that writing is all I want to do, so I had to clear the decks. My Children’s Story Book and Poetry, already published, are a source of pride, but somewhat rushed at the time. My decks are nearly clear, and thanks to you I am now aligned to the wonderful Brenda. I have completed my draft manuscript and am excited beyond belief at what lis ahead. Thank you for the introduction. I know you will Be Brilliant.
