I’m often asked how I came up with title ‘Mastering the Wolf’. The short answer is I was asked by my publisher what animal I thought I most resembled. It came out instantly without any real consideration.
The longer answer is on page 3 of the book, where I explain that Wolves are much maligned, the truth is they are very family orientated, protective, intelligent and friendly. There is of course an aggressive side to them, perhaps controlled aggression might be an apt description.
Mastering the Wolf, to me anyway, became symbolic for the understanding and emotional balance we need in our lives. I often use the white and black wolf to describe them.
Writing the book has certainly helped me become more emotionally enlightened. It has also opened doors, put me in touch with a rich network of people and the feedback about the honesty in my writing has been overwhelming.
So, don’t be afraid of the wolves, they don’t have to be big or bad.
